Mackenzie Warren, a Las Vegas native, is a senior at Southern Methodist University majoring in convergence journalism with a human rights minor. Mackenzie particularly enjoys investigative reporting and documentary journalism. In August of 2008, she traveled to Buenos Aires where she shot, edited, and produced a 16-minute documentary about the Dirty Wars, “disappeared persons,” and other human rights abuses. She also spent time in Washington, D.C. writing and blogging for the Houston Chronicle, where she discovered her passion for political journalism. Last summer and again in December 2009, Mackenzie worked for NBC’s Nightly News with Brian Williams. One of her pieces was featured on msnbc.com. After graduation she plans to pursue a reporting career in broadcast journalism.
